Funk The Matrix : All Analogue Pattern Sequencer

Control-board and test faceplate, component details to follow. As you can see the slide-switches don't come up as high as the bush-mount on the rotary-switches, any suggestions East on some risers or something?

  1. hmmm i don't know about risers. different (or longer) switches, or different (or shorter) encoders. or a seperate board bolted to the face plate infront at the right height. That's WAY too complex of a solution tho, just choose the correct components. or have components mounted to the faceplate directly and run to headers on a pcb. something like that...

  2. they aint encoders, theyre 12-way analogue switches and you mean the spindles are long? isnt it, theyl need cutting down to take smaller diameter knobs - the switches themselves are over an inch in diameter, but theyre the smallest around. theyre arent many 3-way switches that would sit as high as the rotaries without being stupidly big themselves.

i have considered both separately attaching the switches to the back of the faceplate, far too fiddly if one broke, and the separate board, so I guess if theres nothing they could sit in on the PCB then 2 little PCB strips is the way to go and two 8-pin headers...

    design is fun!

  3. i mean it wouldnt be impossible to get risers for those switches... but i think it's just a case of getting the right things. those 12 ways though i can imagine being rare. maybe im just misinterpretting the scale of shit here.

  4. oh yeah they're not the most common components, but the ones on farnell are just fucking massive in diameter and range from £36 to £84 odd each. those are the smallest we could find, 27mm diameter to the edges of the clip things and theyre only 1 or 2 quid each, can;t remember the site theyre on but its in the UK, the model is Lorlin CK series. i'll post some infos in another post.
